Pro Guide Justi Campa

I got involved with PHWFF in March of 2009, when PHW and my outfitting company, Fly Fishing Patagonia, teamed up to send four soldiers to Argentina to fish from Jan 23-30, 2010.

Neither I nor a close family member has ever served, but I’ve always had a great appreciation for those who do. About 5 years ago I was introduced to PHWFF at a show in DC and knew that this was something that could be hugely effective and long lasting. I dreamed of bringing a few wounded soldiers to Argentina.

So I wanted these guys to feel appreciated and give them something a little more than a casting lesson. An exotic fishing trip to Patagonia would give them a joyful sensory overload for a full week, plus leave them with a wonderful, lifelong memory.

The PHWFF trip meant a great deal to me, but unexpectedly it meant a lot to our Argentine guides as well, who are about the same age as the four soldiers. Being Argentine, they are too far removed to share my sentiments, but the scars and characters of those 4 soldiers gave them an appreciation for life, sacrifice, our efforts overseas and who knows what else.

See you on the water boys!
